Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2+ years License: Registered Nurse Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - AHA ACLS / BCLS / NIH / TELE certifications required. - Medication test required. - 2+ years of experience for first-time travelers. - EMR experience: 1-year minimum experience with a designated charting system required. Description: This position is for a Progressive Care Unit specializing in surgical trauma. The unit consists of 41 beds and focuses on adult patients who require care following traumatic injuries. These injuries may necessitate surgical intervention. The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:4 but may increase to 1:5 as needed. The unit provides telemetry monitoring for up to 14 patients, who are hemodynamically stable. Common patient injuries include those resulting from gunshot wounds, assaults, motor vehicle accidents, and falls. Staffing includes interdisciplinary support from IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and more. Qualifications include skill in accessing and managing ports, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, central line care, and telemetry monitoring. Nurses must also have experience in managing dysrhythmias and performing wound care. Travel staff may be required to float to other units based on census needs. It is essential to have demonstrated competencies documented for tasks performed in other units. Modules and additional training may be required prior to the assignment. All requirements must be fulfilled to ensure a successful transition into the role.
