Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intermediate Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years of experience required License: NC or Compact License required at time of start Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, NIH Must-Have: - Strong drip experience - Experience with arterial lines and titrating vasoactive drips - Telemetry and dysrhythmia management experience - IV insulin protocols experience - Blood product administration experience - Central line care/management - Peripheral line care/management - PICC line management experience - High flow nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management experience - Tracheostomy management experience - Isolation precautions knowledge Description: RTO after booking is not allowed. Any call-offs or additional time off on the unit could possibly lead to cancellation. No block scheduling. The unit runs more like an ICU. Patient ratios are typically 3:1 or 4:1. The unit will accept contracts for 13 weeks. 36 or 48 hours can be offered per week. The unit may require floating to a sister unit. Every other weekend is required. The facility has a daily census of 18 with a capacity of 20 beds. Patient diagnoses include respiratory distress, unstable hemodynamics, withdrawal, GI bleeds, and post-op complications. Only one pressor drip per patient is allowed; any more will result in transfer to ICU. Special procedures on the unit include management of various cardiac drips. Staffing and scheduling are done by nursing management. Nurses must be adept at recognizing and treating dysrhythmias. Special equipment includes bedside telemetry monitors, A-lines, CPAPs, and chest tubes. The system used for tracking is Epic. Feedback will be gathered regarding nursing performance and patient outcomes. Additional interdisciplinary support is provided by teams such as IV, physical therapy, and respiratory services. Travelers must be comfortable floating based on skill sets and census. Fatigue policy restricts working more than five consecutive days or 60 hours in a week.
