Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required License: Must have a valid nursing license Certifications: BCLS, ACLS preferred Must-Have: Trauma Level I experience required Cardiac PCU experience required Flexibility with weekend requirements mandatory Willingness to float to different levels of care is essential Description: This position involves providing care to patients in a progressive care unit with a focus on cardiovascular diagnoses. The unit cares for patients with conditions such as congestive heart failure, post-myocardial infarction, pulmonary hypertension, and cardiac arrhythmias. Responsibilities include close monitoring of patients, management of drips, IV starts, and sheath pulls. Nurses will care for patients post-cath lab procedures, prior to LVAD placements, heart or lung transplants, and pre-valve replacements. Charge nurse responsibilities may be assigned based on operational needs, with training and resources provided. Traveling nurses are expected to adhere to floating requirements within the hospital and nearby facilities. The environment supports interdisciplinary teamwork, including IV teams and respiratory services. Candidates should be prepared to precept nursing students as part of the teaching facility's role. Effective communication and collaboration with the healthcare team are essential for success in this role.
