There are 95 staff members. Staffing includes charge nurses, registered nurses, certified nursing assistants, and a health unit coordinator. Patient ratios are 4:1 at grid and 5:1 stretched. Equipment utilized includes IV pumps, patient lifts, PCA pumps, chest tubes, and trachs. The electronic medical record system used is Cerner. Typical procedures performed on this unit include: Neuro and spinal checks. C-Collar placement and TLSO brace application. Chest tube management, PCA pump operation, and IV infusions. Lumbar drain placement and feeding tube insertion. Blood transfusions. The best personality fit for this role is a team player who is patient-focused.
