Travel Nurse RN - Progressive Care Unit - $2,002 per week in Bossier City, LA

Job Title: Registered Nurse - PCU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Stroke Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of acute care RN experience required License: CA License Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: PCU level RN experience NIHSS experience CVL management and placement Foley catheter management Tube feedings via NGT or PEG Arterial lines management Diabetes management Drip titration experience (preferred: Levophed, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Insulin) Ability to pass an EKG competency exam as part of compliance prior to arrival Description: The unit has 6 beds. Patient types include CVA and TIA. Adequate PPE will be provided. Patient ratios are RN: 1:3 and CNA: 1:6. The charge nurse will take patient assignments depending on staffing. No phlebotomy is available on the unit. There is a VAT team available for PICC/midline placement. Resource nurse support is available. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7. Hospitalist services are available 24/7. Charting is done through an electronic medical record system. IV pumps utilized are Alaris. Medication dispensing is managed through Pyxis. Floating may occur to Stepdown or Medsurg units. Weekend rotation is required every other weekend. The schedule may consist of 4 days one week and 3 days the next week. Travelers may request up to 7 days of time off, must extend contract for any full week of requests. Only one weekend of time off may be requested per 13-week contract. There are no on-call requirements. Holiday expectations include working 2 or 3 major holidays. Scrub color is pewter. T-shirts must be gray, white, or black with the designated monogram. Jackets must be gray or black. Badges must be worn above the waist and in full view at all times. Professionalism is a mandatory requirement. Cell phone usage in patient care areas is prohibited. Earbuds cannot be worn. Eating at the desk is not allowed.
