Travel Nurse RN - Progressive Care Unit - $2,010 per week in Burlington, NC

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years required License: Active nursing license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS required; NIH preferred Must-Have: Must have Cardiac Progressive Care unit experience and be comfortable with 1:5 ratios Previous Charge RN experience preferred Experience with EPIC charting system required Description: Staff will be scheduled for a 6-week period via a self-assisted schedule. Staff will be distributed within the schedule based on departmental need, patient work intensity, skill mix, and previous assignments. Ratios are 1:4 with drips/BiPAP; otherwise, ratios are mostly 1:5. There is a focus on cardiac patients, including congestive heart failure, acute coronary syndrome, arrhythmias, and pre- and post-cardiac catheterization. Secondary focus includes respiratory problems such as COPD and pneumonia. Nurse-to-patient ratios are maintained at 1:5 with drips/BiPAP. The unit consists of 30 private beds providing care 24/7. Rooms are remotely monitored. Nurse assistants are available 24/7, and an RN secretary is on duty during day hours. Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias on telemetry is required. Experience with chest tubes, procedural sedation, and cardiac and vasoactive drip management is necessary. Candidates will also need experience with pre- and post-cardiac catheter care and tracheostomy management. Use of rapid response teams is preferred.
