Must-Have:
- General PCU skillset
- Stroke experience
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation
- Tracheostomy care
- Peripheral IV starts
- Chest tube management
- Nasogastric tube placement
- Drain and tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, Foley insertion/management)
- Management of medication drips including cardiac drips, Heparin, Insulin, blood products, and IV fluids
Description:
This position is for a registered nurse specializing in progressive care.
The facility has 207 licensed beds and is designated as a chest pain and stroke center.
The unit has 10 Med/Surg beds and 10 progressive care beds.
Patient types and common diagnoses include heart failure, chest pain, rule-out stroke, general medical sepsis, renal failure, respiratory failure, DKA, and interventional patients with titratable drips.
Patient ratios are 1:5-6 for Med/Surg and 1:3-4 for PCU.
Support within the department includes certified nursing assistants, a receptionist, charge nurses, phlebotomy services, and respiratory therapy available 24/7.
The hospitalist and intensivist are on-site during specific hours.
There is no telemetry monitoring/tech support available on the unit.
The facility utilizes an electronic medical record system and various medical equipment.
Floating to other units within the region may be required based on staffing needs, with compensation provided for travel time if floating mid-shift.
The scheduling includes a weekend rotation every other weekend with holiday expectations of working 75% of holidays.
Request time off is available, with up to 6 days approved, excluding holidays, if the time is added to the end of the contract.
