Job Title: PCU RN for ER Holding Area Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent PCU experience or 1 year of PCU with 1+ years of Telemetry/ER/ICU experience License: Current nursing license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA) Must-Have: - Minimum of 2 years of recent PCU experience or 1 year of PCU with 1+ years of Telemetry/ER/ICU experience - Successfully completed at least 1 previous travel assignment preferred - References should be from recent assignments Description: 100-mile radius rule is strictly enforced. Candidates with any license hits will not be considered. Ratios are 1:4-5 and will adjust for acuity. Stepdown skill set is required for the holding unit. Common diagnoses/types of patients include cardiac, neuro, ortho, and critical care. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7 and responds quickly. Respiratory therapy completes ABGs and breathing treatments upon request. Nurses are required to read their own strips and save them into the chart. X-ray and CT are available in the emergency room, and imaging techs are available for transport. Phlebotomy is not available, and nurses will draw labs. Weekend requirements include at least 6 weekend days/nights in a 6-week schedule. Holiday requirements are based on department needs. There is no call or standby requirement. Floating is not required. Dress code is navy scrubs. Department-specific orientation occurs during the first week of the contract. Cancellation policy allows for 2 shifts per assignment. Charting system is MEDITECH. BSN is not required. Trauma level is unspecified. Care setting is acute. Division is nursing. Shift notes include 12-hour days.
