Job Title: Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Cardiac Medical Progressive Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:30) Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active Registered Nurse License required Certifications: BLS, ACLS required Must-Have: Cardiac PCU experience, comfortable with 1:5 ratios, EKG exam required Description: The position requires strong clinical skills in the management of cardiac patients. Candidates will be responsible for interpretation and management of dysrhythmias. Telemetry monitoring is done on the unit. Experience with pre and post cardiac catheterizations is essential. Candidates must have knowledge of peripheral line care and management, including PICC line management. Management of cardiac drips and vasoactive drips without titration is required. Procedural sedation administration is part of the job responsibilities. Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips is necessary. Candidates should be knowledgeable in tracheostomy management and the use of external CPAP/BiPAP systems. The focus is on cardiac conditions, including congestive heart failure, acute coronary syndrome, and arrhythmias. Secondary focus includes respiratory problems such as COPD and pneumonia. The unit consists of 30 private beds and operates 24/7. Rooms are monitored remotely by a centralized cardiac monitoring department. Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:5 unless otherwise determined. Candidates should be comfortable with self-scheduling based on departmental needs and patient intensity. All staff are expected to be reliable, as the facility has a zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences. Candidates must be prepared to pass a required EKG exam, which is a pass/fail requirement.
