Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (Stepdown) Duration: 17 weeks Shift: 12 Hours Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: 2 years in Stepdown in an acute care setting required License: Active RN license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS preferred Must-Have: Ability to read and interpret cardiac strips Description: Strict 75-mile radius rule applies. Must be located 75 miles from the facility. Experience in a Stepdown unit is required without exception. We offer a Clinical Interview or an auto-offer based on resume review. Indicate preference for clinical interview or auto-offer upon submission. Ratios in the unit are 1 to 5. The unit consists of 44 beds, including 8 semi-private rooms. Charge Nurse will serve as the Clinical Supervisor. Weekend requirement includes every other weekend. Scrub color is Caribbean blue. The EMR system used is Meditech. Holiday work is required as flexible staffing is needed. Telemetry monitoring is conducted with Phillips equipment. Nurses must read and interpret cardiac strips. Common drips include Cardizem (titrated), amiodarone, dobutamine, dopamine renal dose, lasix, bumex, heparin, primicor, vaprosol. Vents allowed are BiPap and CPAP; no full vents are available. Hospitalist or Intensivist is available in-house 24/7. IV Team and Pharmacy services are available 24/7. Shifts begin at 6:45 am and 6:45 pm. Floating to ICU is possible but limited to Stepdown patients unless ICU experience is noted. Floor-specific orientation will be provided. Common diagnoses include post-operative CABG, cardiovascular surgeries, and various cardiac conditions. Preferred skills include the ability to pull pacer wires, with orientation available if not experienced. The average patient census is between 32-38. On busy days, 12-16 discharges and admissions may occur in a single shift. Attendance is crucial, with emphasis on floating capability. Must be comfortable working in ICU settings if unable to take ICU-level patients. Dress code includes natural hair colors, no fake nails, no facial piercings, and no visible tattoos.
