Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Stepdown Unit Duration: 17 weeks Shift: 12 Hours Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: 2 years in Stepdown in an acute care setting required License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS preferred Must-Have: Ability to read and interpret cardiac strips; familiarity with various drips and devices Description: The position requires adherence to a strict 75-mile radius rule from the traveler's driver's license address. Experience in a cardiac stepdown unit is essential. Candidates should be comfortable working with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 to 5. Responsibilities include managing patients who have undergone various cardiovascular surgeries and procedures. Common diagnoses in this role include CABG, CHF, afib with RVR, and complications from chest tubes. There is a fast turnover of rooms, with an average census between 32-38 patients. The role may require floating to the intensive care unit, depending on experience. Applicants should be aware of the expectation for flexible scheduling, including weekend and holiday shifts. Departmental duties may involve tasks associated with IV therapy and monitoring under specific protocols. A professional appearance is required, including natural hair colors and no visible tattoos or facial piercings. The ability to pull pacer wires is preferred, with orientation provided for those unfamiliar with the procedure.
