Travel Nurse RN - Progressive Care Unit - $2,038 per week in Shreveport, LA

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Stroke Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in acute care License: Active RN license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Must-Have: - Experience with titratable gtts: Cardene, Cardizem, Insulin, Heparin, Neo, Levophed (request manager approval if lacking experience). - Chest tube management, traches, peritoneal dialysis, ISTAT, CSF (lumbar) drains (preferred). - Ability to pass an EKG competency exam as part of compliance prior to arrival. Description: This position is for a registered nurse specializing in stroke care. The nurse will be working within a 12-bed unit. Patient types will include CVA/TIA patients in need of TPA administration, spinal surgical cases, and stepdown unit overflow cases. The nurse will manage a patient ratio of 1:3. There will be support on the unit including a charge nurse who may have patient assignments, in-house phlebotomy, and an IV/VAT team available during the day. Respiratory therapy will also be available in-house, and hospitalists will be present. Telemetry monitoring will be in effect with cardiac monitors in each patient room connected to the nurse's station. The nurse will be responsible for main monitoring and printing strips for each patient per shift. The charting system used is Meditech Expanse. IV pumps utilized will be Alaris and medication dispensing will be done through Pyxis. Floating to stepdown and medical-surgical units will occur with ratios of 1:5-6. Scheduling will involve mandatory weekend rotation every other week. There will be specific night shift scheduling requirements outlined. Time off can be approved up to 7 days with restrictions. Holiday work is required for 2 or 3 holidays during the contract. Scrub colors are specified as pewter, with guidelines for T-shirt and jacket colors. Badges must be worn above the waist and in full view at all times. The work environment is traveler-friendly.
