Travel Nurse RN - Progressive Care Unit - $2,038 per week in Shreveport, LA

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Stroke Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in acute care License: Required Certifications: BLS ACLS NIH Must-Have: Experience with titratable gtts: Cardene, Cardizem, Insulin, Heparin, Neo, Levophed. Chest tube management, traches, Peritoneal Dialysis, ISTAT, CSF (lumbar) drains (preferred). Ability to pass an EKG competency exam prior to arrival. Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Stroke specialty. The unit has 12 beds. Patient types include CVA/TIA needing TPA administration, spinal surgical procedures, and stepdown unit overflow cases. Patient ratios are RN: 1:3 and CNA: 1:9. Phlebotomy services are in-house. An IV/VAT Team is available from 7 am to 3 pm. Respiratory therapy and hospitalist services are also available in-house. Telemetry monitoring is provided through cardiac monitors in each patient room, connecting to a central nursing station. Remote monitoring serves as a backup. The nurse is responsible for main monitoring and printing strips for each patient per shift. The charting system used is Meditech Expanse. IV pumps used are Alaris, and medication dispensing is managed through Pyxis. Floating may occur to stepdown and med/surg units with ratios of 1:5-6. The schedule includes weekend rotation, with mandatory night shifts working a specific sequence due to unit requirements. Requests for time off are limited to 7 days and must be extended by one week for each full week requested. Only one weekend of time off can be requested per 13-week contract. Holiday expectations require working 2 out of 3 holidays. Scrub color is pewter, and acceptable T-shirt colors include gray, white, or black with a specified monogram. Jackets must be gray or black, and badges must be worn visibly at all times. The environment is traveler friendly.
