Job Title: RN - PCU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience required in Tele, PCU, DOU, IMC, or stepdown settings. License: Active single-state license accepted; must hold a license from a non-compact state if not licensed in Virginia. Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS required. Must-Have: Proficient in cardiac monitoring and emergency response. Experience with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias. Ability to use Rapid Response and Code teams. Experience administering cardiac drips without titration. Competency in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care. Experience with chest tubes, trach care, and medication administration. Skills in respiratory management including nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management. Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit. The nurse will work 3 shifts of 12 hours on day shifts. Charting experience with Epic is required. The nurse may be required to work every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week schedule. There is a call-off policy in place. The nurse is required to work one holiday within the contract period. First-time travelers and local candidates are accepted. Floating within skillset may be required. The goal patient ratio is 4:1 but may reach up to 5:1. Telemetry monitoring will remain on the unit. Support from healthcare professionals including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, and Pharmacy is available. The position involves working with a diverse patient population including adults and geriatrics. Experience with specific interventions and equipment will be needed, such as chest tubes and IV drips. Additional responsibilities and skills related to patient care and emergency situations may apply. Nurses will be part of a large team that collaborates across various units. The position is aimed at ensuring quality patient care and adherence to safety protocols.
