Job Title: Stepdown/MST RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Step Down Duration: 11 weeks with the ability to extend Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Will consider candidates with 1 year of experience License: Any active state RN or compact license accepted Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Must be able to read and interpret telemetry independently. Large hospital experience strongly preferred. Telemetry trained nurses are welcomed. Experience in managing tele patients, including those who are ventilated or have tracheostomies. Description: This position is for a Stepdown RN in a hybrid unit. Work schedule includes three nights per week, with every other weekend and holiday required. The nurse-to-patient ratio is flexible and depends on acuity, typically ranging from 1:3 to 1:6. The unit consists of 40 beds and treats a variety of conditions, including renal failure, liver failure, and COPD. The interdisciplinary team includes IV teams, respiratory services, and social services. Care may include patients with complex medical issues, such as DKA and infections. This role requires strong skills in cardiac telemetry and management of various medical devices. Candidates must have experience in managing IV lines, blood products, and non-invasive airway management. The individual in this role will float to med/surg or intermediate units as needed. Duties may include interpreting dysrhythmias and monitoring patients on telemetry. Additional responsibilities involve collaboration with a multidisciplinary team for patient care needs.
