Job Title: Step Down Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of Step Down experience required. License: Valid RN license required. Certifications: BLS, ACLS required, not expiring within 30 days of start. Must-Have: - Skills in Cardiac Step Down and post-operative heart care. - Comfortable managing tracheostomies and arterial lines. - Experience with titrating insulin and managing cardiac and vasoactive drips. - Patient ratio experience: 1:3 is the gold standard, 1:4 is understaffed. - Will float within scope of care. - Full contract length required. Description: Seeking ICU nurses willing to work in a step down setting. This role involves caring for high acuity patients in a true step down or mini ICU environment. Candidates should have experience managing complex medical conditions such as DKA, unstable cardiac rhythms, and severe respiratory conditions. Additional responsibilities include care for patients post cardiac surgeries and post heart catheterizations. Successful candidates must demonstrate proficiency in various nursing skills including accessing and managing ports, blood product administration, and care of ventilated patients. Knowledge of isolation precautions and the interpretation of dysrhythmias is necessary. The unit has an interdisciplinary support team including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. This position requires a high level of clinical judgment and decision-making. We seek individuals who are adaptable and can work efficiently under pressure. Travel experience is preferred, but not required.
