Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years Step Down experience required License: Valid RN license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS required, not expiring within 30 days of start Must-Have: - Experience in cardiac step down - Skills in titrating insulin, cardiac, and vasoactive drips - Comfortable managing tracheostomies and arterial lines - Ability to work with a patient ratio of 1:3, with a maximum of 1:4 Description: Looking for ICU nurses willing to work in a step down setting. This is a high acuity PCU role similar to a mini ICU. No first-time travelers are recommended for this position. The role requires full contract length commitment. Floating within the scope of care is expected. Candidates should have experience managing postoperative care for cardiac patients. Skills must include the ability to manage blood product administration, care of ventilated patients, and cardiac telemetry. Interpretation of dysrhythmias and arterial blood gases is essential. Candidates must be experienced in IV insulin protocols and the management of cardiac and vasoactive drips. The average daily census in this unit is 27 patients. Interdisciplinary support is provided by various teams including respiratory services, physical therapy, and pharmacy. The patient diagnoses include severe respiratory conditions, unstable cardiac rhythms, sepsis, and DKA. Special procedures include CABG and post-heart catheterization. Candidates must be able to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Experience with telemonitoring and managing high acuity patients is crucial.
