Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: RN Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Third Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: No experience required License: Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state Certifications: BLS Must-Have: - Accept responsibility for words, actions, attitude, and results while meeting deadlines and performance expectations. - Practice effective, clear, and respectful communications (both verbal and written) and demonstrate attentiveness through active listening and engaged body language. - Collaborate, respect, and cooperate with all co-workers, valuing differences and addressing concerns directly, while actively contributing to the vision and results of the team. - Warmly greet all internal and external customers, promoting a high level of satisfaction by providing information about what to expect, actively listening, and intentionally following up on questions and concerns, including taking corrective action when necessary. - Show an understanding and knowledge of computer systems and applications and/or ability to be trained. - Ability to communicate and collaborate with other care team members. - Ability to assess age-specific patient safety issues and implement appropriate safety devices for all patients. Description: The RN implements professional nursing practice centered on the patient as a whole person. The focus is on the creation of a caring environment centered on healing and wellness. Nursing practices are based on evidence, current research, hospital policies, regulatory standards, and professional guidelines. Clinical decision-making incorporates all four phases of the nursing process, critical thinking, and creativity. Nursing excellence is promoted through helping relationships among nursing staff and across disciplines. Coordinates and provides direct patient care activities on the unit through nursing rounds, assessments, and treatments. Facilitates admission, transfer, and discharge activities. Provides patient and family-centered education. Responsible for care coordination and individualized treatment planning as applicable. Performs and documents a comprehensive assessment according to the RN's scope of practice. Considers the patient’s culture, age, and developmental level. Identifies patient risk factors and presenting complaints. Collects objective and subjective data. Develops a problem list, prioritizing patient needs based on input from the inter-professional team. Designs actions and interventions relevant to the patient’s culture and age. Determines desired outcomes in coordination with the patient and family according to the medical plan of care. Explains procedures, treatments, and processes to patients and families. Recognizes, responds to, and communicates changes in patient conditions appropriately. Conducts and documents ongoing assessments and responses to procedures and therapies. Delegates tasks appropriately and oversees team members in patient care activities. Monitors the accuracy and completeness of patient care provided by other team members. Identifies and addresses educational needs of patients related to prioritized problems. Facilitates the patient discharge process by executing discharge orders timely. Assures the performance of discharge teaching and coordination of plans with Case Management. Demonstrates active participation in unit-based activities supporting organizational values. Promotes a positive group dynamic and healing environment through words and actions. Actively participates in department and unit quality improvement activities. Uses a holistic perspective regarding patient care.
