Job Title: Med/Tele/PCU RN Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days every other week Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: PCU experience, ability to read cardiac strips Description: Department provides care for adults and geriatrics. Common patient diagnoses include cardiac caths, EP studies, pacemaker cases, ETOH, Covid with BiPap, and general surgical patients with cardiac history. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-5, occasionally 5-6 at night. PCU level care overflow is present on the unit with a 1:3 ratio. Experience in tele/cardiac nursing is preferred. Epic experience is a plus, and first-time travelers are welcome. RNs are required to titrate drips, including Amio, Cardizem, Heparin, Nitro, Nipride, Lasix, and low dose Dopamine. Charge nurses are present on each shift and may take a light patient load of 2-3. Nurse aids/patient care techs are available on the unit with a goal ratio of 1:10. RNs are required to read and interpret their own telemetry strips. Shifts are scheduled from 7 am to 7 pm and 7 pm to 7 am, with a rotating schedule not exceeding once per week. Weekend and holiday requirements are every other. All areas may have floating requirements as needed. Scrub color is flexible, allowing any color scrubs. A total of 2 shifts of unit-specific orientation will be provided. The environment is primarily focused on telemetry and cardiac care. Additional time off requests should be specified upfront, with limits on future requests. The cancellation policy allows for up to 4 shifts per contract, or 3 shifts for contracts under 13 weeks. The charting system used is EPIC. A BSN degree is not required. This is an acute care setting with a Trauma Level of 2. The division is nursing.
