Description:
POSITION: RN Neuro PCU
Scheduling details and charting shift hours: 3x12s, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM.
Charting: EPIC experience required.
Weekend Requirement: May be every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block.
All requests for time off, block, and special scheduling must be included with submission.
The unit can accommodate blocked scheduling.
The facility is allowed to call off 1 shift every 2 weeks.
Holiday Requirement: Must work one holiday per 13-week contract.
First-time travelers are accepted.
Pending license accepted, only if the candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state.
Required certifications include ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS.
Clinical skills required:
- Cardiac monitoring and emergency response, including dysrhythmia interpretation and management, Rapid Response and Code teams.
- IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care.
- Medication administration for cardiac drips (no titration).
- Respiratory support, including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management.
- Rapid Response and isolation precautions.
Unit details:
Ratios: 1:4-5 (Please confirm traveler is comfortable with a 1:5 ratio).
Patient population: Adult patients with neurological conditions.
Includes dedicated beds for continuous 24-hour epilepsy monitoring.
Care includes neurosurgical recovery, stroke management, neuro-specific diagnoses, and medical overflow.
Travelers may be required to float to units within their clinical skill set.
Staffing details:
Patient ratios: Days 4, Nights 4, Weekends 4.
Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, lift teams, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation.
Patient diagnoses include neurosurgery, stroke, medical overflow, and neuro-specific conditions with 24-hour epilepsy monitoring.
Travelers are required to work at least 1 holiday per 13-week assignment, with the exception of winter holidays, where they are required to work 2 holidays.
Candidates residing within 100 miles of the facility are considered local.
Previous employees must be gone for a minimum of one year before returning to work as a traveler.
Travelers that end prior to a specified date will be grandfathered under previous policies.
Modules may be completed during orientation, and hours vary based on specialty.
Modules are recorded by the facility report and paid upon receipt of approved hours.
