The unit cares for a mixed patient population including cardiac, minor trauma, respiratory, and mildly unstable hemodynamic patients. All rooms are equipped to handle negative pressure and have ceiling lifts. Floating to other units may be required based on facility needs. The nurse will manage a variety of clinical practices including BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, central line care, and more. Strong skills in telemetry and monitoring of dysrhythmias are essential. The nurse will also be involved in the interpretation of arterial blood gases and isolation precautions. Experience with hemodynamic drips and tracheostomy care is necessary. The facility supports an interdisciplinary approach with services such as physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. Weekly scheduling may require weekend shifts based on unit needs.
