Description:
This position involves working in a Progressive Care Unit during the night shift.
The nurse will be responsible for starting and managing IVs.
Administering medications safely is a key duty.
Monitoring vitals and patient responses is essential.
Patient education on treatments and self-care will be required.
Collaboration with the care team on patient plans is expected.
Use of an electronic medical record system for charting is necessary.
Float to lower acuity units may be required as needed.
Adherence to hospital policies and maintenance of patient safety is crucial.
Candidates should possess strong communication, critical thinking, and multitasking skills.
Travel experience is a plus.
The unit provides care for adults and geriatric patients with a range of general medicine issues, including substance withdrawal and organ failure.
Daily census includes 23 patients with an average patient ratio of 4 per nurse.
Staffing requires weekend coverage, with an expectation of 3-4 weekend days per month.
Interdisciplinary support consists of various specialized services.
Special procedures include managing chest tubes, inserting Foley catheters, and administering IV antibiotics.
The unit is equipped for mixed medical-surgical procedures.
