Description:
Review candidates for PCU competency.
This is a corrections unit requiring access from a corrections officer to enter.
The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3 in PCU and 1:4-5 in medical-surgical assignments.
Some shifts will involve medical-surgical assignments, and others will be PCU assignments.
Staff safety is a priority.
Candidates must have recent acute care experience in the specialty for which they are applying.
Corrections experience is not required.
Ability to manage various medical procedures including BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, and central line care is essential.
Candidates will also need to manage high flow nasal cannula, interpret arterial blood gases, and monitor telemetry.
Experience with starting and maintaining IVs, tracheostomy care, and renal failure management is required.
Reference requirements include two professional references, one from a manager or director.
All candidates must possess a valid compact or state RN license at the time of submission.
Education must come from an accredited program.
