Job Title: Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:00) Experience: 2 years required License: Valid compact or state nursing license Certifications: BCLS, ACLS, NIHSS preferred Must-Have: Conscious sedation experience Vent management experience Telemetry experience Epic charting system experience Description: This position is for an experienced Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse. The role requires a commitment to work 3 shifts per week, including some weekends. Nurses will float within units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed. The estimated patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:3. Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience. Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certifications are required. Nurses should be proficient in managing patients with ventilatory support. Knowledge of care protocols for patients undergoing conscious sedation is necessary. The work environment is high acuity and fast-paced, focusing on adult and geriatric care. Unit interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. Patient diagnoses may include respiratory failure, strokes, liver failure, and renal failure. Special procedures may involve non-invasive ventilation and peritoneal dialysis. Nurses will be expected to utilize advanced skills including cardiac drip management. Candidates must be prepared for a compliance process that includes fingerprinting.
