Description:
The Progressive Care Unit is a Stepdown unit with 32 beds.
The average daily census is typically between 25 and 32 patients.
The unit cares for patients with various medical diagnoses.
It also cares for pre- and post-surgical patients with mixed acuity, including PCU-level care.
Shifts are from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
The schedule consists of 36 hours per week with every other weekend coverage.
Candidates should possess experience in telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management.
Experience with rapid response/code teams is important.
Candidates must have skills in IV therapy, blood product administration, and heparin protocols.
Central line and PICC care, as well as respiratory support, wound care, and pre/post-surgical patient care are also required.
Additional skills such as accessing and managing ports, arterial line management, and non-invasive airway management are preferred.
The unit benefits from interdisciplinary support from various services including IV Teams, Physical Therapy, and Respiratory Services.
The patient population includes adults with a variety of medical diagnoses and some pre- and post-surgical patients.
The unit experiences a dynamic environment, necessitating the ability to adapt and float as needed.
