Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years of experience required, charge and teaching hospital experience preferred License: Registered Nurse License required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS required Must-Have: - Must have a full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months. - No gap in employment greater than 90 days in the past year. Description: Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit. Ratios: 1:5. Previous charge experience preferred. First-timers accepted. Holiday shifts and charge RN assignments may be required as needed by the unit. Weekend requirement: 8 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule period, combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Skills required include: - Cardiac monitoring and emergency response. - Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias. - Post-care for cardiac procedures, including post MI and cardiac surgery. - Management of IV insulin protocols. - Feeding tube care and gastrointestinal management. - Pre/Post hemodialysis management. - Phlebotomy and IV therapy, including central line and PICC line management. - Administration of medications including heparin protocols and cardiac drips. - Management of respiratory care including CPAP/BIPAP and tracheostomy care. - Compliance with isolation precautions and wound care. Unit details include: - Staffing and scheduling may require floating between departments or units. - Regular support from interdisciplinary teams. - Patient diagnoses include general surgery recovery and complex medical cases. - Daily census typically around 31 patients. Drug screening will be conducted, and candidates must comply with all drug screening policies. Candidates are expected to fulfill the terms of their agreement in full. Mid-contract cancellations for the purpose of booking a different assignment are not allowed. Completion of required modules may be necessary prior to the start of the position.
