Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU Float Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 Years Required License: Active Nursing License Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Previous Charge and Teaching Hospital Experience Preferred First-timers Accepted Description: Position for a Registered Nurse specializing in PCU Float. Patient Ratios: 1 Nurse to 5 Patients. Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments may be required based on unit needs. Weekend shifts are required, with 8 shifts in a 6-week schedule period. Skills required include: - Work in Multiple Settings: Med/Surg, Telemetry, Cardiac Telemetry, Emergency Room Holding, Neuro Stepdown, PCU, and Stepdown Units. - Cardiac Monitoring and Emergency Response: Interpretation and Management of Dysrhythmias, Telemetry Monitoring (unit and remote), and Use of Rapid Response Teams. - Cardiovascular Care: Post Cardiac Angiogram, Post Myocardial Infarction Care, Pre/Post Cardiac Catheterization, and Pre/Post Cardiac Surgery. - Endocrine/Metabolic: IV Insulin Protocols. - Gastrointestinal: Feeding Tube Care and Management. - Genitourinary/Renal: Pre/Post Hemodialysis Management and Renal Failure Care. - IV Therapy/Phlebotomy: Blood Product Administration, Central Line Care and Management, Peripheral Line Care and Management, and starting IVs. - Medications: Heparin Protocols, Managing Cardiac Infusions (non-titrated), PCA, and Procedural Sedation Administration. - Neurological/Psychiatric: Care for Cerebrovascular Accidents (CVA). - Orthopedics: Peripheral Nerve Block Catheters and Total Joint Replacements. - Surgical Care: Management of Surgical Drains. - Respiratory: Management of Chest Tubes, Non-invasive Airway Management, Tracheostomy Care, and Oxygen Administration. - Professional Topics and Skills: Isolation Precautions and Wound Care. - If missing required skills, screening is necessary. Additional Skills Preferred: - Accessing and Managing Ports. - Monitoring Chemotherapy. Travel may be required between departments, units, and facilities as needed. A commitment to fulfill the assignment in full is expected. No local candidates accepted within a specified radius. Maximum of 7 days of Requested Time Off (RTO) during the assignment period. Compliance documentation is required before the start date.
