Travel Nurse RN - Progressive Care Unit - $2,236 per week in Council Bluffs, IA

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Effective communication skills, teamwork, positive attitude Description: Registered Nurses are expected to pass a skills exam during orientation. This exam is an open book format with all necessary resources provided. A minimum score of 90% is required to pass. Artificial nails are not permitted while providing patient care. Failure to comply will result in termination of contract. There are 22 beds in the unit, with a nurse to patient ratio of 1:4. Common patient diagnoses include heart failure, atrial fibrillation, respiratory distress, and stroke. Registered Nurses are required to titrate drips, such as Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitroglycerin. There is a Charge Nurse on each shift who also takes a full patient assignment. Nurse aids or patient care technicians are present with a ratio of 1:10. Patients may require the use of respiratory equipment like CPAP, BiPap, and High Flow. Registered Nurses must troubleshoot CPAP equipment as needed. Registered Nurses are responsible for reading and interpreting telemetry strips. Cyclic scheduling is utilized with shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM or 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM. Every other weekend and one major holiday is required. Registered Nurses may float to other areas based on experience. Candidates should possess a positive attitude and be patient-oriented. The unit is fast-paced with many admissions and discharges.
