Description:
This position requires a registered nurse with a strong background in stepdown care.
Candidates must be able to work in a demanding environment.
Natural skills in communication and the ability to work as a team player are essential.
Nurses will be responsible for caring for adults with various medical and surgical conditions.
Common patient diagnoses include cardiac, dialysis, cancer, vascular issues, sepsis, respiratory concerns, stroke, and renal failure.
Nurses are expected to read and interpret telemetry strips.
Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and insulin are examples of titratable drips used in the unit.
Charge nurses are present on each shift and will take an assignment.
There are nurse aides or patient care technicians on the unit as well.
Shifts are from 0630 to 1830 and 1830 to 0630.
Every other weekend and a minimum of two holidays during the contract timeframe are required.
Floating to medical-surgical or ICU departments may occur based on patient acuity.
The dress code for the unit is navy blue scrubs.
Training specific to the unit will be provided.
This unit serves diverse populations, focusing on exceptional patient care experiences.
Flexibility and adaptability are crucial characteristics for a successful candidate.
Feedback and the willingness to learn are strongly encouraged.
A minimum of 7 days of requested time off is acceptable upfront; additional requests will not be approved.
The charting system used is EPIC.
This role operates in an acute care setting.
The department emphasizes teamwork and communication regarding patient medications and care.
