Description

Job Title: PCU RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medicine Specialty Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1 year of experience required License: Current RN License from the appropriate nursing board or a current multistate compact RN License Certifications: Current Basic Life Support and Current ACLS issued by the American Heart Association required Must-Have: MS/SD experience; ICU experience preferred Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; notes all changes in physician orders. Assists physician in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients, observes physiological manifestations, and intervenes when necessary. Administers medication as prescribed and initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently. Interacts with families and patients in sharing care plans while in the hospital and at discharge. Informs patients and families of hospital procedures. Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff. Performs other duties as assigned. Skills: Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures. Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services. Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to respond effectively to the cultural and language needs of patients and visitors. Some computer skills. Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program is required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a board-approved program is preferred. Preferred Skills & Experience: Tracheostomy care experience required. Stepdown experience required (high acuity). ICU experience preferred. Epic EMR experience required.
