Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 16 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years of high acuity PCU patient experience preferred, but not required License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Must-Have: High acuity PCU patient experience Description: The role requires providing care in a progressive care unit specializing in oncology. Experience in oncology is preferred but not mandatory. The unit accommodates pediatric patients, but such cases are extremely rare. Staff will have access to telemetry monitoring and various medical equipment. When floating, RNs are required to work within units of equivalent or lower acuity. Key skills include accessing and managing ports, administering blood products, and managing PCA pumps. The patient-to-nurse ratio in the PCU is typically 1:3. Candidates should have strong knowledge in infection prevention protocols and strategies for patient fall prevention. Nursing responsibilities will include interpretation of dysrhythmias and management of various intravenous therapies. This position offers opportunities for professional growth and development.
