Description:
This position is for a registered nurse specializing in intermediate care.
The nurse will work the night shift consisting of three 12-hour shifts.
The nurse will care for adult patients with various critical conditions.
Common patient diagnoses include COPD, chronic renal failure, GI bleed, chest pain, pancreatitis, liver failure, and post-catheterization patients.
The nurse will be involved in frequent bedside procedures such as PICC line placement, central lines, thoracentesis, and paracentesis.
Medication management includes cardiac drips like Cardizem, Cardene, NTG, Amiodarone, Integrelin, Heparin, and Lidocaine.
The nurse is expected to float to other areas within the facility as needed.
Support services available include IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and unit secretary.
The daily census in this unit averages between 12 to 16 patients, with a total of 27 beds available.
The unit provides specialized equipment including lift equipment, bari-beds, and in-room ceiling lifts.
Telemetry monitoring and high flow oxygen are also integral to patient care in this unit.
The candidate should be prepared to work in a high-demand, fast-paced environment.
