Job Title: PCU RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medicine Specialty Duration: 14 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1 year of nursing experience is required. License: Current RN License issued by the applicable State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN License. Certifications: Current Basic Life Support certification issued by the American Heart Association. Must-Have: Experience in Medical/Surgical and Step Down units. ICU experience preferred. Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; notes all changes in physician orders on assigned patients. Assists physician in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients, observes physiological manifestations of patients and intervenes when necessary. Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently. Interacts with family and patients in sharing care plans during hospital stay and at discharge. Informs patients and families of hospital procedures. Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures is required. Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques is needed. Maintains good working relationships with other employees. Good verbal and written communication skills are essential. Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors is necessary. Basic computer skills are required. Education: Required: Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program. Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a board-approved program.
