Description:
A professional nurse is accountable for the care of a group of patients.
The Registered Nurse (RN) focuses on safe and effective patient and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes.
The RN is responsible for maintaining a financially stable unit and promoting personal development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education.
The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members.
Using the caring processes, the RN has the responsibility to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate the plan of care.
The RN emphasizes patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction.
The RN applies educational and professional experiences in the delivery of quality care and mentoring/precepting staff.
Job Responsibilities:
Performs assessments and reassessments per policy and procedure or as warranted by patient condition.
Demonstrates the ability to make sound independent decisions.
Initiates, prioritizes, and implements the plan of care and reviews and revises the plan as indicated.
Collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary services to support the needs of the organization, patients, and families.
Monitors and documents response to clinical interventions.
Facilitates, coordinates, provides, and evaluates education specific to patient and family needs during their stay and at discharge.
Delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel.
Functions as a mentor and preceptor.
Demonstrates, encourages, and facilitates teamwork.
Identifies and communicates opportunities for improvement.
Participates in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts.
Implements practice changes and complies with regulatory standards.
Participates in the Practice Governance model.
