Description:
Registered Nurses must pass a pass/fail exam during orientation.
The exam is open book and covers skills learned during training.
Candidates are given all necessary resources to pass and must achieve a score of 90% or higher.
Failure to meet the passing score will result in termination.
Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments, and refusal to comply may lead to termination.
Common patient diagnoses include oncology and trauma.
RNs may need to titrate certain drips such as insulin and cardizem.
The typical RN ratio during the day is 1:4 for PCU and 1:5 for Med Surg.
Travelers may float to Med Surg and PCU units.
Two days of orientation will be provided.
Candidates must have current knowledge of electronic medical record systems.
Nursing assistants support registered nurses on this unit.
Teamwork and a genuine desire to care for patients are essential qualities sought in candidates.
Respect for diverse cultural and religious beliefs is paramount in providing care.
The unit treats patients from diagnosis to remission and supports them through the transition when necessary.
