Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years required. License: Valid state license required. Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, NIH required. Must-Have: Experience with ventilators, titration of pressors, and insulin drips. Must have been at the bedside within the last 6 months. Description: This position is for a step-down unit during the night shift. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4. Two weekend shifts are required every other weekend. For night shifts, this may include Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday, depending on the rotation. Experience with titration of vasopressors, sedation medication, insulin drips, trach vents, arterial lines, external pacemakers, and chest tubes is essential. Candidates must have recent experience providing high-acuity care. Nurses are expected to float to lower acuity floors as needed. The unit provides care for adult patients who are in need of acute medical care, effectively bridging from ICU. Interdisciplinary support includes respiratory services, social services, and pharmacy. Special equipment on the unit includes BiPAP and arterial lines. Critical skills include management of cardiac drips, dysrhythmias, and understanding of continuous IV sedation. This position necessitates experience with various critical care procedures and patient care protocols. All travelers must comply with health and safety guidelines and participate in required training. Mid-contract cancellations in order to book different assignments are not permitted.
