Schedule:

12-hour rotating shifts (days, nights, or combination based on departmental needs). Shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period. Weekend coverage variable based on unit needs.

Highlights:

• 36-bed Oncology Telemetry unit with over 24 PCU-level beds providing high-acuity progressive care
• Patient population includes solid tumor, orthopedic oncology, and thoracic oncology diagnoses
• Epic EMR with GE telemetry monitoring system, Alaris pumps, and Stryker beds
• Staffing ratios: 1:3 for PCU patients; 1:4-5 for Medical-Surgical Telemetry patients
• Oncology experience preferred but not required – RNs with ICU and PCU backgrounds excel in this role
• Strong interdisciplinary support including Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, Respiratory Services, and Physical Therapy

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience, with at least 1 year of current PCU experience (must be actively working in acute care within the last 12 months)
• Valid RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
• Current certifications: BLS (BCLS), ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Epic charting system experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• Willingness to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• Two professional references required (at least one from a manager/director or formal leadership role)

Essential Skills:

• Dysrhythmia interpretation and cardiac drip management (titration and monitoring)
• Port access, central line care, PICC line management, and IV insertion
• Blood product administration and heparin protocols
• PCA pump management and feeding tube care
• Respiratory support: High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), BiPAP/CPAP, tracheostomy management
• Chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac systems)
• ABG interpretation and use of Rapid Response Teams

Preferred Skills:

• Chemotherapy administration and monitoring
• IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips
• Wound care and wound vac management
• Arterial line management and surgical drain care
• Phlebotomy and non-invasive airway management
