Job Opportunity – Progressive Care / Medical Oncology RN – Ohio
Start Date: October 5, 2026 Location: Columbus, Ohio Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants Schedule: 12-hour rotating shifts (days, nights, or combination based on facility needs); assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period
Highlights:
36-bed Oncology Telemetry unit with over 24 beds dedicated to Progressive Care (PCU) level of care
Patient population includes solid tumor, orthopedic oncology, and thoracic oncology cases
Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:3 for PCU patients, 1:4-5 for Med-Surg Telemetry patients
Oncology experience preferred but not required; ICU and PCU backgrounds welcome
Epic charting system with GE telemetry monitoring
72-hour comprehensive orientation provided
Strong interdisciplinary support including Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, Respiratory Services, Physical Therapy, and more
Requirements:
Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience (must be current/within last 12 months)
At least 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience with high-acuity patients
Active RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
Nursing education from ACEN or CCNE accredited program
Previous travel experience preferred
Willingness to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity
Two professional references required (at least one from manager/director or formal leadership)
Essential Skills:
Interpretation of dysrhythmias and use of rapid response teams
Accessing and managing ports, blood product administration
Central line, PICC line, and peripheral line care/management
Starting and maintaining IVs
Feeding tube care and management
Heparin protocols and cardiac drip management
PCA pump management
Chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac)
BiPAP/CPAP and High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) management
Tracheostomy care and management
Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
Preferred Skills:
Chemotherapy administration and monitoring
IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips
Wound care/wound vac experience
Arterial line management
Surgical drain management
Phlebotomy
Special Equipment:
GE telemetry monitoring system (B450 monitors)
Alaris IV pumps
Stryker beds
Bladder scanners
Continuous bladder irrigation equipment
PCA pumps
