Job Title: Stepdown/PCU RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: IMC Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year required. First-timers not accepted. License: Must have active license to apply. Certifications: BLS and NIH required. ACLS preferred. Must-Have: Telemetry experience Neuro stepdown experience PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills Description: The Stepdown/PCU RN will work nights on a 3x12 schedule. The nurse will manage a patient ratio of 1:4. The unit is fast-paced with high patient throughput. RNs will float as necessary within scope to meet facility needs. Weekend work is required; typically every other weekend. The role involves critical patient care, including various specialized skills. Required skills include interpretation of dysrhythmias, management of dysrhythmias, and telemetry monitoring. Cardiovascular skills such as post-cardiac angiogram care and pre/post-operative cardiac management are essential. Gastrointestinal skills include feeding tube care and management. Genitourinary skills involve pre/post-hemodialysis management and dealing with renal failure cases. IV therapy and phlebotomy skills are required, including managing central lines and arterial lines. Knowledge of medication management, including cardiac and vasoactive drips, is vital. Neurological and orthopedic case experience is preferred. Respiratory skills, including care of ventilated patients and interpretation of arterial blood gases, are necessary. Professional knowledge of isolation precautions and wound care is essential. This position requires teamwork and collaboration with interdisciplinary support, including physical therapy, social services, and pharmacy.
