Job Opportunity – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse – Ohio

Schedule: 12-hour shifts (Days/Nights or rotating based on unit needs); variable weekend coverage; 16-week assignment; staffing ratios goal 1:4 (may be 1:5)
Highlights:
Mixed acuity Surgical Oncology PCU caring for both progressive care and medical-surgical patients on a busy surgical floor
Patient population includes adult and geriatric patients with breast, thyroid, melanoma, hepatobiliary, colorectal cancers, and reconstructive plastics cases
Procedures include chemotherapy administration, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, oncologic emergencies, insulin drips, heparin drips, and chest tube care
Epic EMR system; GE telemetry monitoring with focus on infection prevention and fall prevention protocols
Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
Floating may be required to other acute care oncology units within scope of practice
Requirements:
Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience with at least 1 year of PCU experience (must be current and consistent within the last 12 months)
Valid Compact or Ohio RN license in hand at time of application
Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Preferred Certification: ONS Chemotherapy
Epic charting system experience required
Experience with cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and tracheostomy care
Education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
2 professional references required (at least one from manager/director or formal leadership)
Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required

Orientation: 72 hours provided
One pre-approved time off period available per contract
Shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period; if accepting a rotating contract, you may work days, nights, or a combination based on departmental needs
Ohio fingerprinting required and must be completed urgently upon contract signing; strict compliance deadline applies
Former facility employees eligible after 6 months away; current employees ineligible
Local candidates accepted at the same rate
