Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: IMC - Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of Stepdown/PCU experience License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Must be comfortable with cardiac monitoring and cardiac drips. Must have experience with titrating drips, including cardizem, amio, nitro, heparin, dopamine, dobutamine, and angiomax. Description: This position requires a registered nurse with experience in stepdown or progressive care unit settings. The unit consists of 30 beds and maintains nurse-patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:6, depending on patient acuity. Common diagnoses include cardiac patients, post-pneumonia, post-cath lab, seizures, and alcohol withdrawal. Knowledge of CIWA protocols, pacemakers, and cardiac monitoring is essential. Registered nurses are expected to read and interpret telemetry strips and troubleshoot related equipment. Respiratory therapy support is available 24/7 for equipment management, while nurses will assist with troubleshooting. There is a charge nurse on each shift, with designated responsibilities, and nurse aids or patient care techs are available to assist with daily activities such as bathing, toileting, and repositioning. Floating to other inpatient units may occur based on staffing needs. Scrub color is navy blue. The schedule allows for flexibility and self-scheduling options while ensuring weekend and holiday requirements are met. Nurses will participate in a general orientation followed by time with a preceptor to ensure a smooth transition to the unit.
