Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Telemetry, EMR experience Description: Manager interview required with no clinical involvement. The unit is a 55-bed platform providing patient care. Supported patient population includes adults and rarely, pediatrics aged 15 and older. The RN to patient ratio during both day and night shifts is 1:4. Shifts are 12 hours with possible times of 0630-1830 and 1830-0630. Weekend requirements include every other weekend. Scrubs required are navy blue for nurses and ceil blue for nursing assistants. Nursing Assistant support is available. A Charge Nurse is present on the unit. Additional support staff includes educators, care managers, social workers, dieticians, physical and occupational therapists. Common patient diagnoses include CVA, TIA, shortness of breath, COVID, subdural hematoma, and weakness. Common drips and medications include PCA pumps for pain management, cardizem, and insulin. Telehealth experience is a competency needed for the role. An open book exam on skills learned is part of the orientation process, requiring a score of 90% to pass. Artificial nails are prohibited in departments providing patient care. Refusal to comply with this policy will result in termination of the contract. Successful candidates will be able to manage the daily operations of the unit. The atmosphere is tight-knit, fostering a collaborative environment. The hospital can cancel up to four shifts during a 13-week assignment. The charting system used is EPIC. The care setting is acute, and the trauma level is classified as Level 1.
