Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: PCU/Med Surg/Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA), ONS/ONCC Must-Have: Chemotherapy certification preferred but not required. Experience in both oncology and PCU is required. Description: This position is for a registered nurse in a stepdown unit specializing in PCU, Med Surg, and Oncology. The unit typically operates with a patient ratio of 1 RN to 4 patients in PCU and 1 RN to 5 patients in Med Surg. The night shift RN ratio ranges from 1 RN to 5-6 patients. Common patient diagnoses include oncology and trauma. RNs will be responsible for titrating medications, such as insulin and cardizem, and administering chemotherapy. BLS and ACLS certifications are required for this role. Experience with ventilators and hemodynamic monitoring (CVP, Aline, Swan, EV-1000) is essential; training will be provided in real-time. The charting system utilized is EPIC. There is nursing assistant support available, along with other unit support staff, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, case managers, social workers, and dieticians. The unit is committed to treating all patients with respect, regardless of their background, cultural beliefs, and economic status. Teamwork and collaboration are vital to the success of this role. Candidates should be ready to provide care with compassion and a positive attitude. In this environment, the focus will be on patient experience, including hourly rounding to ensure patient satisfaction. This role may require floating to other units within the same level of care. Additional skills will be developed as needed for the role. Candidates may be required to work every other weekend.
