The nurse will provide care to acutely ill surgical and trauma patients. Experience in telemetry oncology, cardiac, and step-down units is essential. A strong proficiency in managing ventilated patients and transplant care is necessary. Candidates must be willing to work 12-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, with alternating weekends and some holidays. The role involves an interdisciplinary approach to patient care. Critical thinking and teamwork are vital for success in this position. Nurses will advocate for quality patient care within a collaborative environment. Daily patient ratios are set to 1:4 for general care and 1:2 for intensive medical care. The unit cares for adult patients with multiple comorbidities and hemodynamic instability. Specialty populations include patients diagnosed with cystic fibrosis and pulmonary hypertension. The ability to pass a telemetry test is a requirement before starting the assignment. Successful candidates will demonstrate excellent skills in cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation. Experience in an academic level trauma center is strongly preferred.
