Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of nursing experience preferred License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Previous charge experience preferred Must have experience with patient ratios of 3 to 5 Experience with charting system required Description: The role involves providing patient care in a step-down unit. Candidates should have experience with cardiac telemetry and managing various intravenous devices. Skills in accessing and managing ports and care of patients with chest tubes are essential. Responsibilities include monitoring patients for symptoms and administering medications as required. Experience with managing patients on continuous bladder irrigation and fluid management is necessary. Knowledge of surgical recovery, including post-cardiac care and management of cardiac drips, is important. The position requires the ability to interpret clinical data and support patients experiencing substance withdrawal. Candidates should be able to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams. Flexibility to float to a medical/surgical unit if needed is required. Work will include every second weekend rotation. Strong communication and critical thinking skills are essential for success in this position. Candidates must be able to adhere to safety protocols and isolation procedures. Experience with telemetry monitoring is preferred. Ability to perform procedures such as sheath removal and managing epidural analgesia is a plus.
