Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: IMC Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in acute care within the last 3 years in the specialty License: RN License (compact preferred) Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Telemetry oncology, cardiac, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience required. Vent and transplant experience is required. Ability to pass telemetry test prior to start. Description: Traveler will work in both the IMC Acute Med/Progressive Care unit and the IMC Thoracic unit. Evening/Night shifts will be from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM. Schedule includes Monday through Friday, with every other weekend and some holidays required. Responsibilities include providing care for patients with lung and esophageal diseases, lobectomies, decortications, esophagectomies, and other thoracic procedures. Assist with procedures such as chest tube insertion. The role requires strong teamwork, critical thinking, and compassionate care. Engage in acquiring new skills and integrating evidence-based nursing practices into unit culture. Preferred candidate should have ICU or IMC and surgical post-op experience. Must be willing to work with general care patient populations. Pass a telemetry exam prior to start with strict passing criteria. Adult Exam requires 100% identification of lethal rhythms, with no incorrect answers on questions regarding third-degree heart blocks. Pediatric Exam requires a passing score of 80% or higher. Traveler will have two attempts to pass the telemetry exam. Failure to pass after three attempts will result in assignment cancellation. Unit cares for adult and geriatric patients with a daily census of 7. Interdisciplinary support includes IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, and more. The unit diagnoses include patients recovering from esophagectomies, lung volume reduction surgery, wedge resection surgery, and cardiac surgery stepdown patients. Candidates should contribute to a dynamic general care/IMC unit and develop innovative patient care solutions.
