Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Travel Registered Nurse for a 13-week assignment in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in Watertown, New York. This role offers the opportunity to provide specialized care to patients requiring close monitoring and intermediate care, often transitioning from intensive care or requiring a higher level of observation than a general medical floor.
The successful candidate will be an integral part of an interdisciplinary team, delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. Responsibilities include comprehensive patient assessment, medication administration, continuous monitoring, and collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to patients in a Progressive Care Unit setting.
- Monitor and assess patient conditions, including vital signs, cardiac rhythms, neurological status, and respiratory function.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring accuracy and patient safety.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
- Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare team members.
- Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely patient documentation.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Ensure patient safety and recognize potential safety issues for self and others.
- May be required to assume charge nurse duties as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Minimum of one (1) successful prior travel nursing assignment completed.
- Must reside outside a 100-mile radius of the facility.
- Not specified (for specific years of direct PCU or RN experience).
Preferred Qualifications
- Current critical care experience.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
Skills & Competencies
- Clinical Skills: Thorough knowledge of nursing principles, comprehensive patient assessment (clinical, teaching, mental, spiritual needs), advanced cardiac monitoring, medication administration, EKG interpretation, safe patient handling techniques, ability to provide quality patient care.
- Equipment: Not specified (general proficiency with standard PCU equipment such as cardiac monitors, IV pumps, oxygen delivery systems is expected).

Licensing Requirements
