Travel Nurse RN - Progressive Care Unit - $2,397 per week in New Orleans, LA

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 8 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in specialty License: Compact or state license required upon submission Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Previous experience with patient ratio management - Epic charting system experience - Charge experience is a plus Description: This position requires a registered nurse in a progressive care unit specializing in neuro stepdown. You will be expected to care for patients who have undergone various neuro surgeries. These include surgeries such as ACDF, craniotomy, deep brain stimulators, fusion, and laminectomy. You will manage patients with epilepsy, stroke, encephalopathy, seizures, and Parkinson's disease. The nurse-to-patient ratio is approximately 1:4 during the day and varies during the night shifts. Emergency team assignments may be required based on unit manager assessments. You should have the ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias. This role may also involve telemetry duties. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential in this interdisciplinary environment. The unit is supported by various services including IV teams, physical therapy, and rapid response teams. Please note that local travelers are not accepted for this position. A full year must have elapsed since any previous employment within the associated health system.
