Job Description

Job Opportunity – Acute Leukemia and Hematology RN – Ohio

Start Date: October 5, 2026

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour shifts (Day/Night rotating schedule based on unit needs, reviewed every 4-week scheduling period). Variable weekend coverage based on unit requirements. Float to other Medical-Surgical Oncology units as needed.

Highlights:

  • Specialize in acute leukemia care - primarily newly diagnosed patients requiring intensive hematology support
  • Staffing ratios: Goal of 1:4, maximum 1:5 patient assignment
  • No chemotherapy certification required (ONS Chemo Cert preferred but not mandatory)
  • Epic EMR system with telemetry monitoring using GE telemetry system
  • High-volume blood product administration, IV antibiotics, and electrolyte management
  • 72-hour comprehensive orientation with interdisciplinary team support including Pharmacy, Respiratory Services, Physical Therapy, and Rapid Response Teams
  • 24-bed unit with daily census of approximately 22 patients serving adult and geriatric populations

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience with at least 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience
  • Current acute care experience required (must be actively working in acute care within the last 12 months)
  • Valid RN license (Compact or Ohio state license in hand at time of application)
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • NIHSS certification preferred
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • Proficiency in telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia management
  • Strong skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line care, PICC line management, and peripheral line management
  • Experience with feeding tube care and management
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
  • Two professional references required (at least one from a manager/director or formal supervisor)
  • Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions only)
