Registered Nurse - Medical-Surgical / Progressive Care Unit (MS/PCU)
Job Summary
Join a dedicated nursing team at a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital in Clarkston, Washington. This role is for an experienced Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive care within the Medical-Surgical and Progressive Care Units, serving an adult patient population.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong generalist background, demonstrating proficiency across various clinical areas, and be adaptable to flex into other departments as needed to support patient care initiatives in a dynamic, smaller hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities
Identify patient and significant other needs for patient education and deliver education utilizing appropriate modalities.
Ensure patient safety through preventative measures, including proper use of side rails, restraints, and safe operation of equipment, adhering strictly to policy and documentation standards.
Demonstrate proficient knowledge of safe operation and troubleshooting techniques for all equipment in the PCU/Telemetry/MedSurg areas, accessing manuals as needed.
Implement infection control and isolation procedures using proper techniques and documentation, consistently utilizing standard precautions.
Maintain complete, accurate, and concise documentation of patient status, nursing interventions, and patient responses during assigned shifts.
Ensure accuracy and timely completion of physician orders, including 24-hour order checks as assigned.
Provide comprehensive and accurate change-of-shift reports to oncoming employees.
Communicate effectively and accurately with other hospital departments.
Report critical lab values to physicians in a timely manner according to established policy.
Maintain and restock emergency carts, patient rooms, and general unit supplies.
Required Qualifications
Demonstrated experience in Medical-Surgical and Progressive Care Unit (PCU) settings.
Willingness and ability to flex into other departments as needed.
Equipment Proficiency: Safe operation and troubleshooting of medical equipment commonly found in Med-Surg, Telemetry, and PCU settings.
Soft Skills: Critical thinking, adaptability, strong communication (verbal and written), attention to detail, time management, teamwork, and patient advocacy.
